Neo Classical 8 Finger Tapping

Posted by Niels Vejlyt on Tuesday, January 17, 2017, In : Neo Classical Shred Guitar

Technique
If you have followed my 8 finger Tapping lessons before, or my Sweep Picking 8 Finger Tapping lessons to be more precise you will know that to go from the Sweep picking technique to the 8 finger tapping technique I slide the pick up the index finger with my thumb. This is key to be able to combine those two techniques in the same lick. The most tough and the part you will probably have to drill again and again is the part where you descend the 8 finger tapping scale from the B stri...

Posted by Niels Vejlyt on Tuesday, April 26, 2016, In : contemporary shred guitar

About
Hi there here is the third Contemporary Shred Guitar lesson and this time its exclusively tapping, its quite advanced Tapping and requires mastery of the index finger and little finger or the long finger and little finger on the Tapping hand. The idea is taken from my debut Sage's Recital album from the song The Last Unicorn but just transformed into a six string pattern but without the Dominant step. Enjoy

Dampening
This is obviously not for the faint of heart this technique and other tha...

About

Welcome to the new lesson, these next few lesson will be all about thinking in new directions, trying new stuff, off course still within the Shred Guitar parameters but adding little new ideas here and there to add a new dimension to the after all quite played genre. As I talk about in the video you here the same chops that was invented in the late eighties early nineties and so many musician just keeps repeating them and for good reason, they sound amazing, but I myself am getting tire...

Creative practicing Neo Classical Shred

Posted by Niels Vejlyt on Monday, August 31, 2015, In : Neo Classical Shred Guitar

About
This lesson is a piece I have had a lot of benefits from practicing now for some weeks. This is the awesome thing about composing a piece that makes use of all the things you want to be able to play in any situation. So for example if you need to work on either your Sweep picking, your Alternate picking or you 8 finger tapping, this could be a good example of a put together piece that will work on those, so identify what you need to work on and put together a cool piece or by all mean...

Inspiring Shred Guitar Techniques

Posted by Niels Vejlyt on Sunday, May 31, 2015, In : sweep picking 8 finger tapping

About
Make sure that you practice the Tapping technique where you tap back and forth between the long finger and the little finger while holding the pick between the thump and index finger because this particular technique can really slow down the rest of this piece. In general the Tapping technique in this whole piece could use some pondering on what fingering will help you achieve perfection and speed as quick as possible. And also make sure that you try to drill especially the Tapping par...

Neo Classical Shred Guitar Sweep picking 8 finger tapping

Posted by Niels Vejlyt on Friday, April 17, 2015, In : Neo Classical Shred Guitar

About
Hello again, here are yet another Neo Classical Shred Guitar lesson that are a lot of fun both to listen to and to play. I have again chosen to focus on the combination of Sweep picking and 8 finger tapping as well as the 8 finger tapping alone. So I believe that the sliding of the pick up the index finger using the thump is essential to be able to do this technique since its crucial to have access to all four fingers on both hands if you want to play those sweet 8 finger tapping patter...

8 Finger Tapping scales in 3 octaves

Posted by Niels Vejlyt on Tuesday, March 31, 2015, In : 8 Finger Tapping

About
8 finger tapping guitar scales three octaves. I play one complete octave of the scale on each string but but because I start and end each string on the same note one octave higher that means I start the next string playing the next note in the scale. So in this case where I play the Ionian scale from the low E string that means that I start the next string which is the G string by playing the second note of the scale and finally when I go to the high E string I start the pattern by playi...

Sweep picking 8 finger tapping

Posted by Niels Vejlyt on Friday, March 27, 2015, In : sweep picking 8 finger tapping

About
Merry Christmas everyone, heres my little Christmas present for you, it's a Sweep picking 8 Finger Tapping lick which obviously takes a lot of getting used to, but the real reason I make these videos with quite advanced licks is because even though they take a lot of focus and practice I experience that they really inspire in general to play and practice more. Of course if you are a beginner you will also need some more beginner stuff to practice to get some faster results and successes....

Stunt Guitar 2

Posted by Niels Vejlyt on Sunday, March 15, 2015, In : stunt guitar

About
Here is a new 8 finger tapping lick that is another way of doing eight finger tapping than I normally do it. Its a little inspired from TJ Helmerich who I would say actually use the Right hand in general 75 procent more than the left hand when he is soloing. The first thing of difficulty that comes to mind is the individual work of the right hand fingers since the first pattern the right hand is doing is almost all on different strings. What I found especially challenging was the part wh...

About
This is a highly advanced technique I invented years ago where I add Tapping sort of behind the fretting hand, for lack of a better name I call it theCross Hands technique. Added is a sweet Sweep picking Dominant Arpeggio I invented too, I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I do

Sweep picking 8 finger Tapping beginner lesson

Posted by Niels Vejlyt on Tuesday, March 10, 2015, In : sweep picking 8 finger tapping

About
This is a great introduction into the combination of Sweep picking and 8 finger tapping, especially because the intervals in the right and left hand are not crazy demanding as they often tend to be in those type of licks, so good luck and shred on !

8 Finger Tapping Extreme Shred

Posted by Niels Vejlyt on Sunday, March 8, 2015, In : 8 Finger Tapping

About
This lick is really awesome I think, once you get used to tap with all four fingers and play legato with  all four fingers you can produce these long lines of shred guitar phrases. This is a quite long lick that can easily be divided up into smaller licks that are much more easy to incorporate into you own shred vocabulary. This is definetly something I will post videos about in near future so stay tuned. I suggest that you make one or two of the four notes per string patterns into one d...

8 Finger Tapping

Posted by Niels Vejlyt on Monday, March 18, 2013, In : 8 Finger Tapping

One of the very important elements in playing 8 finger tapping is to be able to play it without having the surrounding strings buzz making it sound awful in general. When I go from one string to another I make sure that I lower my right hand palm to damp the strings as much as possible. Good luck !

8 Finger Tapping Arpeggio

Posted by Niels Vejlyt on Thursday, February 28, 2013, In : 8 Finger Tapping

Here is the first sweep picking 8 finger tapping lesson in this blog. Its in B minor and requires the use of all four finger on each hand. My way of doing it is to simply slide the pick up the index finger when I reach the final pattern where I play 8 finger tapping
